Health Promotion provides programs and
activities relating to chronic disabling conditions, the prevention and
reduction of effects of disease, reduction of alcohol and substance abuse,
smoking cessation, weight loss and control, and stress
management.
Information is provided to older people, usually at senior centers, on chronic disabling conditions such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. Also, information is provided on diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of age-related diseases and disabling chronic conditions, such as Alzheimer’s Disease and other related dementia disorders. Other Health Promotion topics include home safety, safe driving and as a pedestrian, safe use of medications, health quackery, health fraud and cons, healthy life-styles, healthy hearts, self protection, and crime prevention.
