Senior adult centers in Southern
Illinois and the Egyptian Area Agency on Aging, in cooperation with the Office
of the Illinois State Fire Marshal and local fire departments, are
distributing free smoke detectors to older residents in Illinois. This program is
part of a statewide prevention and education program providing smoke alarms and
educational programs on home fire safety to Illinois
citizens. Each smoke detector comes with a battery and contains the manufacturer’s “User’s Manual” with important information on installation, use and maintenance. In order to receive a free smoke detector, the Office of the State Fire Marshal requires that the recipient submit his or her name, address, and telephone for verification purposes (this information will not be shared in any other way.) If you or an older loved one who lives in Southern Illinois would like to receive a free smoke detector, contact your local senior center or use the link below to contact us. ### Return to Scams, Fraud, & Personal Safety |
